A longitudinal volume with dimensions close to the famous cruiser Potemkin was created as a result of the complete program and clear design specifications. Prior to the building's design, the pavilion's considerable contents were matched with the scale of the surrounding structures and the vistas from the campus in which it appears. The proposed concept is based on the functional differentiation of the student pavilion's contents into public (public) spaces and private (private) spaces (rooms) by breaking the pavilion corpus into four smaller ones that are on the scale of existing pavilions and connected to them by a broken geometry bridge. The supplied format's expanded capacity has been rebuilt into four "stand-alone" student rooms "immersed" in public spaces. The cracks that formed between the formed volumes of student rooms are filled with the remaining, public contents of the dormitory - communications, dining rooms, living rooms and classrooms, through which beams of light reach the hallway, cutting it into spatial sequences that give it dynamism. The dynamics of indoor and outdoor spaces are set in relation to the facades of adjacent buildings, pedestrian flows and campus views; student square, access from Vukovarska Street, parking and the central space of the campus with a canteen in its focus. These areas are encased in a glass envelope with integrated solar cells, which allows for outward looking while simultaneously highlighting the internal dynamics of employing outside views. The energy concept of the pavilion is additionally strengthened by solar collectors, a retention tank of gray water, which are an integral part of the design and unobtrusively provide energy to the pavilion.

A composition of coloured cuboids create this sculptural residential project. The brief for these mid-rise buildings was to create studio apartments, a hostel & a guest house on the perimeter of a housing project for a residential township, to house the working people of a new cement plant. Angularly stepped in the layout, each of the rooms are oriented towards the north in response to the hot climate of Kodla , Karnataka in India. Temperatures exceed 35°C for 8 months of the year in this region. Based on the brief, 18 studio apartments, 54 hostel rooms and 18 guest house rooms are created in 4 & 5 level buildings facing large landscaped areas & a large playground on the north east. Common facilities including a cafeteria , games room, lounge & gym are housed at the ground level. Rooms opening into sheltered north facing balconies occupy the upper floors. Indian culture is known for its vivid use of color in traditional crafts, festivities & clothing. India is the only country that celebrates Holi, a festival of colour annually. 3 of these vivid primary colors – red, blue and yellow highlight the cantilevered balconies to each room creating an identity & simultaneously enhancing the sculptural look of the buildings. Built economically with emphasis on natural ventilation & natural sunlight, the buildings are very energy efficient. Fly ash brick walls, water recycling, rain water harvesting, north orientation, sheltered outdoor spaces to reduce heat gain render the design sustainable.  The entire electrical energy required is harnessed from the residual energy generated in the cement plant nearby. Studios 90 is a simple, energy efficient residential building that responds to its site, the climate of the location & alludes to the culture &  social aspects of the users.

获奖作品:Dasht-e-chehel villa

Dasht-e-chehel villa 40 is an experience to reach an external-internal life in a cold climate. It is about how to stay out of the building and experience snow and rain but still remain in a safe zone. And how to be inside without losing sensory, visual and psychological connection with the outside. And also how to blur the boundary line between inside and outside to reach a greater freedom. At the beginning of the design, due to the extension of the ground in the north-south direction (with length of 50 and width of 20 meters), we decided to place the building in the same direction of ground and closer to the north border, in order to benefit the beautiful view of the north. Then, by making a diagonal cut along the building, we brought the north view to the heart of the building, and in addition, an outdoor roof was created toward the yard that would allow the physical presence of humans during snow, rain and also let them use the midday heat (while being protected from direct sunlight). By the way, residents are not limited to the inside of the building and they can use a larger part of the yard in cold seasons. In the southern part of the building, by creating a glass chamber with a thick stone wall behind (Trombe wall) and some openings at its top and bottom), the thermal energy radiated during the day can be stored and used to heat the building at night. In the end, by avoiding flattening or stepping the site (common solution for the sloping lands), the horizontal and vertical access routes became ramps to provide more smooth and comfortable movements throughout the building and enhance the feeling of freedom.

获奖作品:Kastelaz Hof

Kastelaz Hof’ is located in South Tyrol, Italy, in the wonderful Alpine landscape of Termeno, renowned for being the home of the Gewurztraminer wine. The site is nestled within mountain valleys, a vineyard, and a forest, and close Caldaro Lake, providing a 360-degree landscape view. The geometry of the villa evolves from local site conditions. It creates a flowing and harmonious transition with the landscape and is barely noticeable from the close village.The ribbon-like structure that emerges from the natural landscape creates an internal courtyard that offers protection from the strong wind coming from Garda Lake. The external materiality replicates the existing retaining walls from the surrounding vineyards, made of chalkstone, mirroring their same texture and color.The structure is divided into three ‘wings’ that enhance light and connections between indoors and outdoors. An internal courtyard connects all the spaces, blending seamlessly into nature.The wide glass façades are designed to frame and highlight the surroundings and to let the landscape enter the indoor spaces while maintaining internal privacy. The interiors are characterized by local materials creating a warm yet simple and minimal atmosphere. Materials such as concrete and wood, are used to create continuity through the house and the outdoors.

A place immersed in lush Atlantic Rainforest nature. A terrain filled with large leafy trees, foliage, shrubs, birds and wild animals. A challenging topography with a steep slope, characteristic of the Nova Lima region in Minas Gerais. This is the place where Casa Açucena is inserted. The project is a response to a sensitive reading of the place. In a first contact with this terrain, it is already evident the need to maintain the natural characteristics. The act of looking upwards, from the ground to the canopy of trees, elevated up to fifteen meters above ground level, was decisive for the creation of the concept. How to build in a place with such a steep topography, while maintaining the original nature? How to give the residents the daily experience of looking up and seeing the sky through the treetops. These were the questions that guided all design decisions. The initial understanding that architecture should mold to the terrain, and not the other way around, was the starting point. The house rises above the ground and the animal and plant life develops underneath. The program shapes itself by occupying the empty spaces between the trees. No trees are removed. The topography is not changed. Art and Nature in perfect harmony. From this point on, no choice or design decision was made by taste or will of the architect. Everything is a response and is intended to reinforce a concept.  The house, in its white color, is a surprise to those who arrive. Its randomly placed black pillars blend in with the trunks. The house seems to float. Its fluid plan, a result of the program's occupation among the trees, and its openings and folds in the slab, to reach the view of the treetops, generate the volumetry. The architecture is harmoniously inserted next to the natural vegetation, but maintains its presence. Surprise and novelty are values inherent to art. Casa Açucena presents itself as a white flower in the midst of nature.
